There are serious sellers on eBay and then there are PowerSellers on eBay. The PowerSeller Program was established by eBay to give recognition to exceptional sellers on the website. When you become a PowerSeller on eBay, you gain a whole new level of credibility within the eBay community. However, to become a PowerSeller, you have to be invited to join the program by eBay. eBay invites sellers to join its PowerSeller Program by taking into consideration two main criteria. First, it takes into account the sales volume that a seller achieves over a certain period of time. Second, it looks at the quality of the feedback received by the seller.
Generally speaking, sellers who are invited to become a PowerSeller have a kept up a noticeably high sales volume over time and have received some very good feedback from his or her buyers. PowerSellers are distinguished by a special logo that is displayed in their listings and beside their eBay name in search results.
To become a PowerSeller on eBay, you need to meet a certain number of minimum requirements. First, you need to have sold at least $1000 or 100 items on eBay per month for the last three consecutive months. You are also required to maintain this monthly sales level in order to keep your PowerSeller status. Second, you must have received at least 100 feedback entries from your buyers. In addition, at least 98% of this feedback must be positive. Third, your eBay account must be clean. A clean eBay account is one that pays all of its eBay bills when they are due and is not in suspension due to eBay policy violations. The criteria used to select who will be invited to become a PowerSeller clearly show that eBay values a seller’s experience and excellent customer service.
Once you become a PowerSeller, you can move up to even higher PowerSeller levels. PowerSellers, in order of prestige, can be Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, or Titanium PowerSellers. Bronze PowerSellers meet the minimum requirements. Silver PowerSellers meet them and have had at least $3000 in monthly sales for 3 consecutive months. Gold PowerSellers have $10,000, Platinum PowerSellers have $25,000, and Titanium PowerSellers have $150,000. A PowerSeller can only move up the ladder to a higher level if he or she has maintained the new high in sales volume for the last 3 consecutive months. If a PowerSeller’s sales volume slips below the minimum requirement of his or her current PowerSeller tier, eBay will send a notification of the slip. The seller then has 30 days to bring his sales volume back up to the required level.

First, buyers prefer to buy from sellers with experience and good feedback. This will likely lead to more bids in product listings and higher selling prices for products. Second, when you become a PowerSeller, you receive priority in terms of email and telephone support from eBay. Gold, Platinum, and Titanium PowerSellers even have their own account manager at eBay who is on call to help them with any problems that may arise. Third, PowerSellers are given access to an exclusive discussion board through which they can trade tips and other information. And finally, if you become a PowerSeller, you are given a certain level of protection from having to pay for feature fees when a buyer fails to pay for an item.
